![]() Welcome to the Cologne List Horse Sport, a doping prevention platform operated by the Olympic Centre Rhineland for equestrians, horse-owners, trainers and veterinarians. Here you can find tested feed with minimized doping risk. FN Anti-Doping Catalogue With its anti-doping catalogue based on ADMR 2010, the FN has provided us with an important and meaningful aid for equestrians. Every equestrian is now able to assess a whole range of products directly. The FN in addition publishes lists of banned substances, including waiting periods, and permitted substances, to provide you as an equestrian with an appraisal. We very much welcome this FN initiative for greater transparency. What is the purpose of the Cologne List? The anti-doping catalogue has provided equine sport with a basis that is legally binding in human sport in view of articles of food and food supplements: manufacturers are required to list their ingredients, which every athlete can check against the NADA doping list. Thanks to the anti-doping catalogue, this status is now also provided in horse sport. But there is nonetheless still a risk, in human as much as in horse sports, of being caught in a doping trap through no fault of one’s own. An international IOC-funded study performed at the Biochemical Institute of the German Sport University Cologne has shown that approximately 15 percent of the food supplements bought in 13 different countries contained anabolic agents (mainly prohormones) that were not stated on the package. This is partly attributable to inadvertent contamination in the manufacturing process (of which the manufacturers are also not aware), but also to the deliberate admixture of banned substances. With the Cologne List by now encompassing over 200 products we as an independent body provide for greater safety in human sports by virtue of tested products. We are now following the same approach with the Cologne List Horse Sport. Background of the Cologne List: The Cologne List Horse Sport is an aid to equestrians, horse owners, trainers and veterinarians in reducing the doping risks caused by feed. This group of people should be made aware of the hazards of feed and receive support in preventing them. Missing or insufficient information on individual products or unawareness of the risks of feed are often the culprits of non-culpable positive doping test results. The athlete however is the one who is ultimately responsible. He is brought into discredit and his career is jeopardized. This is why the Olympic Centre Rhineland (OSP) has taken the initiative and established the Cologne List in collaboration with the Centre for Preventive Doping Research at the German Sport University Cologne (ZePräDo) and established this doping prevention platform. Its aim is to highlight feed with minimized doping risk. Manufacturer requirements: Manufacturers of animal feed must fulfill certain requirements in order to place a product on the Cologne List Horse Sport. The listed product must be examined for internationally defined typical feed contaminants regularly, at least annually by the Centre for the Preventive Doping Research at the German Sport University Cologne. In this process, feed is examined, the findings oh which refer exclusively to the respective batch. The batch number as well as the best-before date are therefore also published. A regular, at least annual laboratory analysis is a prerequisite for inclusion in the Cologne List. Any further voluntary laboratory analyses conducted by the manufacturers will be published in the product entry. The findings of the analysis refer exclusively to the respective batch. A batch describes a quantity of a substance with which an apparatus, e.g. a stirrer, is filled. From one batch, a certain number of packaging units is produced that all bear the respective batch number. These numbers are published with their respective best-before dates on the Cologne List. In addition, the manufacturer must self-disclose and verify the safety of the ingredients with reference to doping relevance by answering two standardized questions. Further product assessment options: In addition to the mandatory regular laboratory analysis, the manufacturer may frequently have his product examined at the Centre for the Preventive Doping Research at the German Sport University Cologne and have these results published in the product entry of the Cologne List Horse Sport. Rule of thumb: The more laboratory analyses, the higher the safety. Further information on the feed and the quality management it is subject to can be specified in the field "Manufacturer comments" in the product entry. The manufacturer confirms this information by placing his signature. This information is not further verified by OSP. Use of the Cologne List: The use of the Cologne List Horse Sport is very simple: The button Cologne List Horse Sport takes you to a page containing fundamental information about the Cologne List Horse Sport, which must be read and confirmed by clicking a field. This then takes you directly to the product overview of the Cologne List Horse Sport. For each product here, the list shows the manufacturer and the date of the most recent analysis. Each column can be sorted alphabetically or by date by clicking the double arrow >>. The analysis date always refers to the most recent examination. Search functions simplify the search for a product and manufacturer. If e.g. a product name is known, you can enter it in the search field. The search function is started by pressing the return key or by clicking the magnifying glass symbol to the right. Here clicking on the respective product take you to the product entry. The entry shows detailed information on the manufacturer and the product as well as information necessary for assessment, such as analysis reports, manufacturer comments and recipe assessments by the Centre for Preventive Doping Research at the German Sport University Cologne (ZePräDo).
